As we move out of winter and into Spring we are starting to get the boat ready to start our Helford River Cruises for Easter on 1 April.

Great Gardens

There’s so much to see in this stunning river surrounded by the grand gardens of Trebah and Glendurgan Gardens planted by the Fox Family, wealthy shipping agents who holidayed on the Helford from Falmouth who fell in love with the Helford and made it their home. Alfred and Sarah Fox bought Glendurgan, set behind the picturesque village of Durgan, complete with an old school house that Sarah used to teach her children. Trebah was planted by Charles Fox who loved trees and at the bottom of the garden you will see a stunning golden beach, but don’t be fooled is completely manmade and has concrete blocks just off the beach, a landing pad for the Americans to launch for the D day landings.

Birdlife

This hidden gem is a inter tidal with tides flooding in every 12 hours. It is a Ria a flooded valley and so up river there are mud flats where wader birds; curlews, little egrets, herons, red and green shanks and kingfishers enjoy the cockles and food in the mud, but we are out on the high tide and so you will see the birds flitting about between tree branches on Frenchman’s Creek, or nesting on Polwheveral Creek amongst the North Atlantic temperate Rainforest with abandoned boats with stories to tell.

Cornish Waterside Villages

Or perhaps you will enjoy the sailing boats and Cornish riverside villages of Helford Passage, Helford with the thatched roof pub the Shipwrights Arms or Port Navas Creek with the Oyster Farm and Port Navas Yacht Club.

Seals and Dolphins

This stunning area of outstanding beauty, the back garden to the bustling harbour town of Falmouth, with birdlife in the shallows in the creeks and the occasional Atlantic Grey seal or dolphin sightings in the deeper waters by Trebah and out to sea.

There’s so much to see on our 90 minute boat trips. Whether you come on your own, a couple, family or book a private charter no trip is ever the same. As we launch around the high tides please note boat trip times will vary day by day!
