We’ve had some lovely birdlife on our winter strol

We’ve had some lovely birdlife on our winter strolls and kayaks from @budockveanhotel! It’s such a peaceful garden to explore with a stunning waterfall running through it! The herons, kingfishers, buzzards, swans and a friendly robin!

Robins always seem so tame and so we researched why and the answer is one of survival and intelligence. Robins historically followed large ground disturbing mammals and humans with spades who made their foraging for worms and insects easier as the soil was exposed!! In today’s world this behaviour continues as they enjoy watching us humans gardening and exposing the soil. They are also territorial protecting their food source, the unearthed worms and insects from rivals!!

Spring is in the air and we can’t wait to get back out on the water with you!
Our Helford River Cruises start on 1 April, departing from the Budock Vean Hotel foreshore, with daily trips running through to 31 October. Private charters are also available.
Recently we took the opportunity to get out on a kayak with Koru Kayaking and wow – it was absolutely stunning. No need for a soundtrack, the birdsong was magical. Lovely to see the shipwreck still there, the creek unchanged, and great wildlife sightings too: ducks, greenshank, cormorants, and even a fry of mullet. Feeling completely re-energised.
All trips can be cancelled, postponed, or rearranged with 48 hours’ notice, or if the weather isn’t suitable. Gift vouchers are also available – perfect for birthdays, anniversaries, or a thoughtful thank you.
